Producer Profile:
Uraga, located in Ethiopia’s Guji Zone within the Oromia region, is known for producing some of the country’s most vibrant and expressive coffees. High elevations between 1,900 and 2,300 meters, coupled with diverse microclimates, rich biodiversity, and traditional organic farming methods, create ideal conditions for growing exceptional Arabica. In the village of Suke Werekata, smallholder Oromo farmers hand-harvest their coffee and intercrop with food staples like maize, barley, and ensete (“false banana”) to sustain their families and maximize land use. Most farm work is done by hand, with minimal use of fertilizers or pesticides, making these coffees organic-by-default. Cherry is delivered to a local Tracon-owned processing station, ensuring careful handling and traceability. The result is a coffee with bright acidity, floral complexity, and lush fruit character that reflects the rich land and culture of Uraga.
