This comes to us from our importing partners at Falcon Coffee. Bekele Belachew is sweet and berry forward, reminding us blueberry and vanilla bean. As it cools, you’ll be met with the refreshing, tea-like qualities we’ve come to love from Ethiopian coffee, while maintaining a tartness of raspberry and dried strawberry. It’s been a minute since we’ve been able to offer a natural Ethiopian coffee, and we’re excited about this one.
Coffee cherries were harvested when fully ripe, and soaked to pick out the less dense floaters. They were then left to dry in the shade for 3-4 weeks.
Producer Profile
Bekele Belachew has been working with a group under Buriso Amaje, the lead farmer at the Bensa village of Sidamo Regional State. With altitudes of more than 2000 masl, it is believed to be one of the suitable areas to produce high-quality coffee in the Sidama area. Coffee here grows intercropped with fruits and under forest shade. Small-holder producers are apart from one another.
